Warming Up

We are getting ready to take Molly on her first plane trip this week. We're heading down to Florida to visit my Grandpa and Oma, Molly's great grandparents. My Grandpa is 90 years old (91 in August) and going strong. He enjoys cooking good, Italian food, drinking Budweiser out of the can, riding around the complex on his golf cart and talking to all the "neighbors" in their complex. I can't wait for Molly to meet him!

I've been thinking a lot about how we plan to keep Molly occupied on the two-hour-forty-minute plane ride and here are some of the tips I've received and graciously accepted.

Joanna Goddard gave some great tips in a recent blog post entitled Ten tips for traveling with a baby.  Flying during nap time is great advice. We will be doing that, both coming and going.

We opted to buy Molly her own seat on the plane— even though kids fly free up until age two and can sit on your lap. Being a very active toddler, we thought that it would be best for our family to bring Molly's car seat with us — since she is used to being strapped into it during car trips — and put it on the plane for her.

Everyone I've spoken to who has traveled with a child says bring plenty of snacks for the plane ride. We are planning on bringing cottage cheese and fruit {Molly's favorite mid-morning snack}, cheese, cereal bars, goldfish, bananas, crackers, and some other "treats" for Molly— lollipops, cookies and juice boxes.

Electronics. What kid doesn't love electronics these days? Cell phones. The Nook. Game Boy. All packed!

84 degrees and sunny in Pompano today. Looking forward to sun, warmth, and making lots of memories and taking lots of photos of Molly and her great Grandparents.
