While reading another blog I really liked the way the author's goals were separated into categories that work for her. Then I read another favorite blog of mine, and I loved the way the author set monthly goals. So in this new year, here are my goals, my way.
MONTH: January
GOAL: Be creative

HOW...
I haven't been blogging as much as I used to or as much as I'd like, no doubt due to the business of each day — work, life and being too tired to bust out a post every night. But, I love it! I love writing. I have always wanted to be a published author — a memoir. Not sure if anyone besides my sister will want to read it, but I think it's a cool story. For now, my writings are published on Blogger and I like it this way.
I am going to be working with the talented Erika again for an updated look on my blog. Stay tuned!
A few months ago I started writing a short piece that I had planned on sending into a contest hosted by Ladies Home Journal magazine. But I didn't finish typing my story. And, I missed the submission deadline. The topic was the day that changed your life. I would like to continue with that and finish my story. Who cares if it is never published in a magazine? Personal goals here people!
I like painting too. Not like watercolors or pastels or oils. Like, painting rooms in my home. I'm due. Been thinking about changing the wall color in my kitchen. Yes, this will be the fourth time in seven years. But it's fun to freshen things up! Then I have another few inexpensive ideas to spruce up my kitchen on a budget. Hubby and I are saving up for a major home project this year. Not major as in extension, which we hope to do within the next five years or so. Major as in big, to be completed by a professional, and costs a lot of money.
My home is very important to me. I work very hard for it. I want to creatively place pieces in my home to reflect our character and create a cozy and inviting feeling for us and our guests. I often move furniture around, recycle different pieces to different rooms, and change small things to add that special something to our home. This will always be me. My babysitter actually likes to look around and see what is different at the start of each new week when she comes over to watch Molly. Cleaning up and de-Christmas-ing and decorating for winter and our next holiday — Valentine's Day will happen soon. I like to change up my decor each season.
And finally on this creative journey, I will carry a small journal in my purse. I have always done this, especially when I was pregnant, to ensure that whenever I had an idea I wouldn't forget it. Simple idea.
Love the way the sunlight is coming in on this photo of my little girl.
Happy New Year. On day four of January, I can still say this. Heck, I can say it for the next four weeks if i want! Happy goal setting and planning...
